Hello to all Americans in Baku! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Baku? There’s no doubt about it: Baku is an engaging mix of the East and West. The Azerbaijani capital is a seafront city known for its strong winds — earning it the nickname “City of Winds” — oil fields and petroleum industry, contrast of historical and modern high-rise buildings, and much more! With the the public transit network consisting of metro and bus services, a funicular, and commuter ferries, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in neighborhoods such as Port Baku or Khutor, which are between 30 minutes and an hour’s commute away from Baku’s center.
