Situated in central Poland, Kalisz is known for being the ‘oldest city in Poland’ with a fantastic history as well as being a highly industrial area. Evidence dates the city back as far as the 9th century and today it is known for having a number of high profile enterprises as well as excellent educational facilities. For expats living in Kalisz, there are plenty of artefacts and architectural structures to see, despite the effect of World War II on the city. The city managed to preserve a number of important buildings including the St. Nicholas Cathedral, known to be the oldest church in Poland, as well as the Old Market Square and Town Hall which date back to the 1920s. There are also many beautiful restored buildings and houses to see which makes the city center a desirable place for every expatriate living in Kalisz.
