The high quality of information provided by fellow expatriates was very helpful to me and I can only recommend joining InterNations.
InterNations — A Community for American Expats in Kathmandu
Hello to all Americans in Kathmandu! Are you interested in getting to know fellow expats in Kathmandu? Looking for advice from other Americans, e.g. wondering if there are any bars in Kathmandu which will be showing your favorite baseball or American football team’s upcoming match or where to go in town for st■ turkey?
There’s no doubt about it: Kathmandu is still feeling the effects of the devastating 2015 earthquakes that saw much of the city’s structures destroyed and many people dead. However, Kathmandu is slowly recovering. The “City of Temples” is a capital city known for being home to various UNESCO World Heritage Sites and its popularity among tourists, but also for being the gateway to the Himalayas, its multi-ethnic population, and much more! With the Sajha Yatayat bus services, further trolley and micro-bus operators, and reasonably priced taxis, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in Baluwatar or Budanilkantha, for example, which are a 15 to 20-minute drive away from Kathmandu’s center.
Although Kathmandu has lots to offer, you might be wondering where and how you can meet other Americans in the city. Luckily, InterNations is here to make this easier for you! You’re warmly invited to join the InterNations community. Within our international network in Kathmandu, there’s a vibrant circle of American expats from all regions of USA, including New York City, Los Angeles, and beyond.
