Living in Lecce

Lecce is a city in southern Italy, as well as the capital of the Lecce province. It is a very historical city, dating back to the 3rd century, which features a number of Baroque architectural structures and monuments. As a result of this, the city is nicknamed ‘the Florence of the South’. There are many fascinating sights to see, with a lot of Greek influences present as a result of the city’s ancient history. Expats living in Lecce will be able to explore the city’s many attractions, including the Church of the Holy Cross which took over 300 years to complete, as well as the Anfiteatro Greco, an amphitheater dating back to the 2nd century which used to be able to seat more than 25,000 people. There are also many fantastic restaurants and shops in Lecce, cementing it as a popular tourist destination.
