There’s no doubt about it: Lille has seen a striking transformation from industrial center to cultural hub. The World Design Capital of 2020 is a river-port city known for its architectural mix of Flemish and French styles, its annual flea market (Braderie de Lille) — one of the biggest in Europe — the well-known art museums, and much more! With the very modern public transportation system comprising of trams, buses, and (driverless) metro services, as well as a very walkable center, navigating your way around the city from one place to the next is simple. This also means that if you don’t want to live among the hustle and bustle of the center, you can enjoy a quieter life in Wasquehal or Villeneuve, for example, which are less than 15 km away from Lille’s center.
