Aberdeen's French community organises rally after Charlie Hebdo atrocity
he slaughter of 12 people at the Paris-based magazine "Charlie Hebdo" on Wednesday has provoked international outrage.
And now the French community in Aberdeen has organised a peaceful protest in the city on Sunday.
Emotions have been running high in the aftermath of the country's worst terrorism atrocity, with police still hunting the perpetrators.
Holyrood's French MSP Christian Allard has already lodged a motion at the Scottish Parliament to give MSPs the chance to pay their respects.
His stance has been echoed by Julie Tchao who works in the oil industry in the north-east, and who told STV she wanted this weekend's rally to be in defence of democracy.
Julie said: "Everybody has been horrified by what has happened in Paris in the last few days.
"There are rallies planned in Glasgow and Edinburgh, but there quite a few of us from France working in Aberdeen and we want to pay our own tribute to those who have died.
"That is why we have decided to meet this Sunday to protest against this week's terrorist attacks and stand up for freedom of the press, free speech and conscience.

"We will be holding the rally at the Castlegate on Sunday at 3pm.

"The protest has been organised in agreement with Aberdeen City Council and Police Scotland and it is a peaceful and respectful event.

"This is about showing solidarity with those who have been killed."
