Museum of Islamic Civilisation, Sharjah (Abu Dhabi)

This is just a postscript to let you all know this is a Museum worth a visit. It's not glossy and doesn't follow the modern way of telling a story, however it does have some beautiful artifacts, particularly the ceramics and the tea room in the dome was a surprise. It also has the largest collection of daggers I've yet seen and some pretty lethal looking ones at that.

We only had 1.5 hours to look around but actually it needs probably 2.5hrs, so a return visit is on the cards to look at the ceramics (I can't believe I'm now interested in historic ceramics - how age changes you). There also looks to be a good contemporary art collection, but that only opens in the morning.

So a morning in Sharjah is on the cards for next month.
