Safety in Abuja

Dear All,

I'm possibly considering a job post in Abuja this year and
I would want to know how safe is Abuja for expats.
The only source I could get from the internet are
news that mainly focuses on the bad things that are happening
there.

Will it be safe to travel to and from airport as well as to
go to shops and grocery. I believe there is a safe place
to live for expats, but how about outside the gated village?
