5th June is World Environmental Day (Accra)

ACTION ACCRA AND POLY BANK @ JAYNII ECO PLAYGROUND CONSTRUCTION AND FUN CLEANUP AT JAYNII BEACH RESORT

"Planet Earth is our shared island; let us join forces to protect it."
~ UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.

World Environment Day is celebrated annually on the 5th of June, as a principle tool for spreading awareness about and committing towards positive action for the Environment.

Action Accra and Poly Bank GH is celebrating the day to recognize that we all are connected and united by our common goal for a sustainable and prosperous life for all on this planet.

This year, to make our voices heard and actions felt with an impact, we've organizing an open day, at Jamestown, behind the lighthouse. The event is themed as “Donate/ Pay-it-Forward Earth Day Celebration Drive for Jaynii Eco Playground,” where ideal alternatives relating to plastic use will be discussed, so that we can incorporate such habits into our lifestyles.

For an early start, we will update the main, as well as the event page with step-by-step directions on how to make Paper Bags, accompanied with pictures, and a video. The event participants may then learn how to make such bags, which will be distributed amongst the local market vendors and buyers.

A Wetland Cleanup walk has also been organized between 12.00 p.m. – 1.00 p.m. Participation is encouraged from all local civilians and students. It will be along a one kilometer stretch behind the lighthouse. Through this, the significance of the Wetlands will also be realized.

We are promoting environmental consciousness at the local level through our Green cycle Swaps. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! Drop off your cleaned gently-used & working items and a GHC ¢20 donation.

Don’t forget to bring a bag (or cart) to food/clothes to share them all! All remaining items are donated to local orphanages, street children and churches.

COME ONE, COME ALL!!! MAKE THIS EVENT A GRAND SUCCESS - NOTE: ALL ARE INVITED... PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION WITH AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN.. LET'S BE A PART IN SAVING OUR ENVIRONMENT
