Anti Malaria Medication (Accra)

Hello Group, I will be visiting Accra in the upcoming weeks. That said, I was prescribed anti malaria medication by a travel nurse at my doctors office. As with all medications, I researched the possible side affects and found out the medication can cause hallucinations (hearing and seeing things that are not there). I immediately contacted the nurse with my concerns and she basically told me not to worry and the greater worry should be contacting malaria, that could lead to death.

My question to you, is malaria that much of a concern? If I follow other precautions such as wearing mosquito repellent, long sleeves etc . Do you think that will protect me? I'm open to suggestions or advice on how other people have protected themselves from contacting malaria.
