Vernissage exhibition "Joie Mécanique"
My German friend Pauline Zenk exposes at the gallery. Here is a description of the exhibition :
A man in an old-fashioned suit in the midst of larger-than-life Disney characters: is cycle of images therefore comes as a reminder of old times, of perfect childhood, when it was still possible to escape into fairytale worlds. But then there is the alienation with which this man - Walt Disney - stands alone in the midst of his creation ...
“Disneyland” serves as a metaphor for the desire to escape into an alternative reality. Colorful, enchanted, playful and full of masks is this illusory world. ere are many who, like Walt Disney and his “dream factory”, satisfy this emotional need. e escape from the gray everyday world are o ered to us by programmers, virtual reality, space travel advertisers, dream work movies and game designers for just a few dollars.
All (irrational) escape routes from reality are standardized and commercialized - whether in Manga World or Disneyland, in video games or in Comic Cons - everything runs according to economic aspects. likes or dislikes, our feelings, likes and dislikes, our longings and dreams are turned into cash. ere are no more sanctuaries, nowhere – not even in your imagination.
