LA MENAGERIE DE VERRE (by Tennessee Williams)
The "Glass Menagerie" is a memory play by Tennessee Williams that premiered in Protected content catapulted Williams from obscurity to fame. The play was moved to Broadway where it won the New York Drama Critics' Circle Award in Protected content . The Glass Menagerie was Williams' first successful play; he went on to become one of America's most highly regarded playwrights.
The play has strong autobiographical elements, featuring characters based on its author, his histrionic mother, and his mentally fragile sister Laura.
Tennessee Williams offers us a simple tale that still speaks to us of our present : ordinary people, that life has turned upside down and who must fight for an uncertain future. Rebellion, hope, humour, they hand us a mirror ... There is plenty of things to love in those people, a lot to fear for them and a lot to admire too !
This adaptation is based on the translation of the novel by Isabelle Famchon and is staged by director Thibaut Nève.
