How to govern your emotions like a Stoic? Group Practical Challenge
On December 15th, the Madrid’ Stoic school and gym, Stoa Madrid, will begin their 2nd Stoic monthly Group Challenge. It will be the first of two rounds in which they will delve into the governance of emotions from the Stoic approach to psychology and emotional management. Also, they will study the 3 Stoic disciplines that are cultivated through the 4 cardinal virtues.
To put all this theory into practice, during December they will be training in groups through Stoic spiritual exercises aimed at cultivating the virtues of Practical Wisdom and Courage (disciplines of Desire and Assent) to include them in a daily reflection routine.
The agenda includes:
- Stoic Psychology, Dichotomy of Control, Prohairesis and Examination of Impressions
- The three stoic disciplines: Desire, Action and Assent and the Stoic virtues associated to their cultivation.
- Get ready for the worst (part 1): Exercises for the cultivation of practical wisdom and courage (disciplines of desire and assent)
- Reflection habits monitoring: “Are we making progress?”
The activity will be conducted in Spanish, although the reading materials are also in English.
