Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
Protected content wish I could have been a better man.”
On a hot summer night, 22 years ago, 18-years old, Attiya Khan, ran out on the streets as fast as her legs could go. Fearing for her life, she fled from her ex-boyfriend, Steve, the young man who beat her up daily. Today, after all these years, Attiya asked Steve to meet her. She wanted to know what memories he had of their relationship and whether he would accept responsibility for his violent acts.
Filmed by Attiya with Steve's consent, this first encounter that betrayed emotions was the starting point of the film. The raw images marked a revival of Attiya's healing process, as well as an important initial milestone for Steve. For the first time ever, he talked about the abuse and was ready to face the past openly.

"*For Life’s Sake*
Women of the world,
stand up and fight
Defend our lives
defend our rights!
Rebuke those who our spirit in bondage would keep
marking us body and soul like indelible ink
Hear all those who in silence weep
when out of fear, accept defeat"
