Winter Beach Walk through the Dunes of Castricum
As the sailing season is over, we would like to invite you to an outdoor activity around the beautiful dunes of Castricum.
We will walk through the dunes with changing elevation, enjoying a variety of the scenery heading to the beach. We may spot some birds and even deers on the way, if we are lucky. We will also look for boats at sea with a binocular.
The ecosystem in the northern dune area is very diverse. This is due to a variety of soil conditions, height and soil moisture. The dunes are also being used as a natural filtration area for our drinking water. We will tell you something about this during the walk.
It is a Nature Reserve and costs Eur 1,80 to walk through the dunes.
The walk will start at visitor center “De Hoep” : Johannisweg 2, Castricum.
How to get there:
Take a train to Castricum Station, and we'll meet you at the main entry at 12:30. You will be picked-up by car and we'll drive you to the visitor center.
If you come by car from Amsterdam, you could take participants with you and take them directly to the visitor center. We will meet at the entry of the centre at 13:00.
You can buy an entry ticket for the dunes at the center. The walk starts at 13:15. There will be a stop at a beach club for a cup of coffee or similar. This is a relatively safe walk, with some cattle in the dunes. The climb to the viewpoint is fairly steep. As usual: attendance is at you own risk.
Looking forward to this beach walk with you,
