Ready to Join?

Dear all,

for those who are still in town and want to escape July boiling Florence and avoid the crowded Italian beaches, here's a great opportunity to refresh your body and mind in the Tuscany mountains.

This is an adventurous and refreshing summer trekking, completely immersed within the state park area of “Giogo –
Colla di Casaglia”, one of the wildest and most bio-diverse areas in the Northern Appennines.
The protagonists of this ring excursion, will be the beech and the chestnut woods, a clear and fresh creek, some old abandoned villages and canyons, with massive geological structure.
Starting from the Protected content we will enter the “Valle dell’ Inferno” (Hell’s Valley), then we will reach the Rovigo Creek, where we will stop for a refreshing swim into the river’s waters, then a convivial pic-nic.

In the afternoon, we will climb up to the ridge, and then reach the plateau of Moscheta centuries-old chestnuts wood, where we will attend a concert of Ethno – Popular music by the Italian group
“Populalma” (concert start at 18:00 p.m.).

After the concert we will go back to Moscheta, where we can have dinner at the Restaurant Protected content tasting Tortelli Mugellani, (the most famous and traditional dish of Mugello Valley).

Herebelow, some info about the excursion:

Itinerary: Moscheta – Valle dell’Inferno – Molino della Lastra – Valle dell’Inferno – Intersezione Sentiero Protected content Ca’ Nova dello Zoppo – Razzalto – Poggiolo – Castagneto secolare - Moscheta
Total length: 15 Km
Actual journey time: approx. 4 h
Difference in altitude: approx Protected content
Difficulty level: Medium
Duration: daytrip (packed lunch by the participants)
Indispensable equipment: hiking boots or threaded sole shoes, clothes water supply (1,5 l minimum), clothes adequate to season and weather.
Recommended equipment: sunscreen, swimming suit, towel and slides, hiking poles, camera.

As usual, we will go out on a Saturday, to avoid traffic and crowds and also to have the possibility to rest the day after.

We will be together with an environmental guide, who will explain more about the flora, the fauna, the geology and the history of this place.

If you want to spend an adventurous, carefree day amidst nature, walk and take pictures together with a bunch a people who love doing the same, this is your opportunity!
