Autumn in Tuscany : Certaldo , between history and nature
This itinerary will allow us to discover Val d’Elsa area where the suggestive medieval village of Certaldo rises, and where the author of the Decameron, Giovanni Boccaccio ,was born.
Starting from Certaldo rail station, through a ring route, , we will proceed to discover this territory full of hills and valleys, once the seabed of ancient sea that water and wind incessantly shape into spectacular vertical walls called "Calanchi".
Then we will take funicular to “Certaldo Alto” to visit village, museums,churches, and Boccaccio’s house.

Actual travel time (without stops): Approximately 4 hours
Duration: daytrip (packed lunch by the participants).
COMPULSORY Equipment: Hiking boots with carved sole,clothing suitable for the season and weather condition,water supply (1.5 liters minimum) and packed lunch. ( Recommended gear: hiking poles,camera )
Note: an option to hold in Certaldo for snack or aperitif may be decided after hiking day.
We will be together with an english speaking guide, who will explain more about the history, the flora and the geology that characterize the area we've visiting.
