Sunday Lunch & Walk
This time we will visit Virginia Water and walk around the Lake. 2 miles long, it is a popular destination for wildlife lovers.
We will see the Cascade, completed in Protected content . The lake and the cascade can both be taken in during a nearly 6 mile walk around the perimeter.
The Leptis Magna Ruins, originating from the Roman city on the shores of the Mediterranean, in Libya, were imported as a gift in Protected content . Initially stored at the British Museum, were later erected at Virginia Water in Protected content . In short, the components are genuine. In the second century AD, Leptis Magna was the third largest city in Roman Africa, after Carthage and Alexandria.
On the northern side of the lake there is an internationally famous Valley Garden. It covers Protected content of undulating valleys with azaleas, magnolias and exotic blooms from all over the world.
The Totem pole was given as a gift to Queen Elizabeth II from the people of Canada, to mark the centenary of the proclamation of British Columbia as a crown colony. The totem pole stands at one hundred feet tall.
We will meet at Protected content
We will walk towards the Lake from the Virginia Water train station, and have lunch/drinks at La Piazzetta or Piccolino. Then will head to the Lake, and later, have a drink &/or dinner at one of the two referred Italian restaurants, before taking the train back to Reading.
