Magic of Powązki Cemetery on All Saints' Day
Powązki Cemetery in Warsaw, one of the Polish capital’s oldest cemeteries, is home to incredible sculptures in styles ranging from Art Nouveau to ancient Egyptian.
It opened in Protected content it remains a functioning cemetery as well as one of the most important necropolises in Poland.
On All Saint's Day (public holiday) Polish people traditionally visit the graves to light a candle for the dead. After dusk the necropolis becomes illuminated by countless candle lights flickering on the tombstones, making Powązki appear absolutely otherworldly. Feel free to bring some small cash with you to buy a candle for a grave.
