Leaders: Myth and Reality
Stanley McChrystal, a retired US General, has written an unusual book about leadership - or rather, about leaders. Most books about leadership are about the qualities needed to become a successful leader, in business or, less often, in politics. McChrystal's book looks at individual leaders, successful AND unsuccessful, and at different kinds of leadership: the founders, the geniuses, the zealots, the heroes, the power brokers, and the reformers. Some are names you would expect - Mrs Thatcher, Martin Luther, and Martin Luther King; some are more unusual - Walt Disney, Coco Chanel, Albert Einstein. We can talk about some of these people, or about leaders we know about... I think we all have some interesting names in mind!
