For many of us this time of upheaval and lockdown causes a great deal of anxiety. Our routines are overturned and disrupted, simple tasks require greater thought and effort. The uncertainty of our days makes us more aware of the precarious nature of life. Anxiety shifts to stress and we struggle with physical and emotional distress.
We must realize that stress is a condition each individual creates. The world, your manager, partner or the dog next door does not create stress. How you deal with outside stimuli determines how you feel and the degree of stress you experience.
Stress is simply a reaction to a stimulus that disturbs our physical or mental balance. It is an ever-present part of life.
You may not be able to control what causes stress, but you can certainly alter the way you deal with it.
