Concert: Jazz Fest Sarajevo 2020: one and only Kayhan Kalhor

This year, the Jazz Fest Sarajevo will introduce a special edition of the Festival that will enable the audience to watch the concerts of international and local artists from the 19th to the 21st of November, free of charge, via social networks and platforms.
It started last night and it included a concert by Iranian virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor, a multiple Grammy nominee who won the Grammy award Protected content best world music album with the Silkroad Ensemble as its member and composer.
Kalhor’s playing on the kamancheh, a traditional Iranian string instrument, and his fascinating improvisations were crucial to the popularization of Persian music in the West. At present, Kayhan Kalhor is a master of classical Persian music and the epitome of the kamancheh. The concert that is his premiere performance at the Jazz Fest was recorded in one of the most important concert halls in Europe, Bimhuis in Amsterdam.
I was lucky to see him live in Munich, in February this year, shortly before lockdown and it was an acoustic & visual experience I will never forget!
