Double hill HIKE – Sequoia trees & Göttweig Abbey

Trip can be postponed or cancelled shortly before, depending on the weather! Pls check regularly for updates.
We always look at this part of Wachau only from a distance, while riding our bikes along the Danube … so it´s time to change that 😊 … but as I definitely don't see myself cycling up those hills, we'll rely on our feet 😉 .. so, hike it is!
You can get an idea of our hike here (some adjustments are possible):

Two highlights along our route are:
- population of sequoias (Mammutbäume), unique in its size in Austria - at 43 meters, one of them is 5th biggest tree in Austria
- Göttweig Abbey - baroque Benedictine monastery with a fantastic location on top of the hill and overlooking southern entry to Wachau (we´ll only be able to browse through courtyards, as monastery is closed for winter)
We can also have some lunch in one of the inns in surrounding villages.
Train back to Vienna runs every hour.
Hope to see some new and some familiar faces! 😊
