Shereen Abdo is a key figure in the emerging folk music movement. Her taboo-breaking ability to infuse traditional folk music with diverse and progressive sound while remaining faithful to its roots puts her at the forefront of the ongoing reinvention of folk by the contemporary Egyptian musicians.
