Kiran Forest & the Village - A Fall Hike Thru History
11km. 4 hrs.
Join us on a breathtaking hike through the golden hues of Kıran Forest, nestled in the highlands of İnegöl, where the vibrant colors of autumn reach their peak by November. This is one of the most scenic times of the year in southeast Marmara, and Kıran’s unique elevation and terrain offer a spectacular display of deciduous trees in full fall glory—a feast for the senses.
Our adventure begins in Kıran Village, a small but historically rich settlement located on the eastern slopes of Mt. Uludağ. This rugged forest village was once part of the lands granted to Turgut Alp, a legendary warrior who fought alongside Ertuğrul Gazi and Osman I, founder of the Ottoman Empire. According to historical records in the ‘’Hüdavendigâr Tax Book’’, Kıran was originally a Derbentçi outpost—a strategic mountain pass settlement guarded by infantry with military duties.
As we hike through mountain paths, under canopies of amber, gold, and crimson we’ll not only experience the serene beauty of the forest but also walk in the footsteps of Ottoman-era sentinels. The area’s rugged terrain, crisp mountain air, and deep-rooted heritage make this more than just a hike—it’s a journey into the past.
And to top off the day, we'll make a well-earned stop at a famous İnegöl meatball restaurant on the way back—because no trip to this region is complete without tasting its legendary local flavors.
Pack your boots, bring your curiosity, and come hike with us into the heart of fall & history.
