"Jayne Eyre" video from The National Theatre in London
Join us on Saturday evening at 7 PM from the comfort of your own home to see the National Theatre's free video of a performance based on Charlotte Bronté's classic novel, "Jane Eyre". You can view the video by clicking on this link: Protected content
As an orphaned child, Jane Eyre is first cruelly abused by her aunt, then cast out and sent to a boarding school. Though she meets with further abuse, she receives an education, and eventually takes a job as a governess at the estate of Edward Rochester. Jane and Rochester begin to bond, but his dark moods trouble her. When Jane uncovers the terrible secret Rochester has been hiding, she flees and finds temporary refuge at the home of St. John Rivers.
Following the performance, and thanks to Jeremy Smith, we'll meet online using ZOOM to discuss the play. If you prefer not to participate in the discussion that's OK but please do join us on ZOOM with a glass of your favourite wine or other beverage. Instructions on using ZOOM will appear on our Event page or wall by later this week. (Helsinki time)
Free videos from London's National Theatre are featured every week on YouTube. The play currently appearing online is "One Man, Two Guvnors" starring James Corden and it's hilarious. This video is available continuously until April 8. On April 9 at 9 PM, "Jane Eyre" will appear for the first time and will be available until April 15.
