Mikail Aslan has focused since his early childhood on the music of his homeland nearby the Euphrates River. He studied European classical music in Germany while he simultaneously developed the traditional technique of the Turkish "Tembur". His music includes typical traditional sounds as well as modern and classical elements; although he always maintains the authentic and mystical character of traditional music. Mikail sings in his native language Zaza.
AVIAN QUARTET (opening band)
The name „AVÎAN“ comes from the oldest Kurdish dialect Kurmancî and means dewdrop (“Tautropfen”). The four musicians have been searching for the stories and songs of their ancestors - that "shines like dewdrops in the morning sun". The „AVÎAN Quartet" combines the variety of oriental music with classical and jazz elements and connects the music of the Middle East with Western music. The classical string quartet is broadened by improvisation and singing. In a refreshing and surprising manner the four musicians are building a bridge between East and West and between classical and modern music.
The artists are: Nure Dlovani (violin), Julia Brüssel (violin), Annegret Mayer Lindenberg (viola), Beate Wolff (violoncello)
