'Garden of Delight' photo exhibition + Mechelen city exploration
Until the beginning of March, an interesting photo collection is on exhibition in Mechelen (a mere 30-minute train ride away from Brussels). 'Garden of Delight’ is a visual case-study on high-speed urbanization, leisure and consumerism in Dubai. The series showcases Dubai as the ultimate playground of globalization and capitalism, and raises questions about authenticity and sustainability. Garden of Delight was awarded the Magnum Photography Award Protected content , the Zeiss Photography Award Protected content , Days Japan Special Jury Prize Protected content , Nannen Preis Protected content , shortlisted). You can find the full exhibition description here: Protected content
I thought this would be an excellent reason as well to explore Mechelen a bit more: Here is what I propose:Protected content The photo exhibition is just on the other side of the street. Optional activity before going to the exhibition: weather permitting, we can first climb the cathedral tower for a stunning view over the city and its surroundings.
- For those interested in seeing a bit more of Mechelen, we can then go for a 2-hour self-guided city walk and end the day with dinner and drinks.
Looking forward to seeing you all there!
