There is similarity between music and architecture. The architectural forms and their outlines of plans and elevations, we will find that these forms represent a beautiful portrait of art, which provide the same feelings when we listen to an enjoyable music. Musical terms such as rhythm, texture, harmony, proportion and articulation refer both to architecture and to music. Rhythm in music is patterns of sounds in relation to a beat; repetition of elements - openings, shapes, structural bays- establish regular or irregular rhythm in architecture.

Now think about a moment how a blind person would describe or express architecture...

One possibility of expression will be provided with this activity:

Anton Belousov - The Blind Pianist will play Bach, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, Liszt and Tchaikovsky

He will play the piano in St. Augustine’s Parish Church. This church was first built in Protected content Girolamo Cassar, but was rebuilt by Giuseppe Bonnici in Protected content .

After you joined the musical interpretations of the blind pianist you will be guided through the Priory and interpretation centre of the monastery. At the refectory will be finally prepared a dinner from the monastery kitchen.
At the dinner one can meet and greet the blind pianist himself.

When the pianist Anton Belousov was asked if he would like to take part in this project he answered: “I can not see the beauty of the church in which I will be playing, because I am blind, but I can still feel the presence of God, and it is an honour for me to contribute to such a project, playing for the people in Malta.”
