Saturday trip to Marburg
Anyone up for having a walk in the fairytale historical town of Marburg? Located among the hills by the Lahn river, one hour of train north of Frankfurt, the town features an ancient castle, a church dedicated to st Elizabeth of Thuringia and many lookout points. It also has a few quirky features, like landmarks inspired to the tales by the Grimm brothers (who studied here), and, allegedly, even beer with peaches ( see Protected content
The idea is to have a day trip from Frankfurt and try to discover the secrets of Marburg, starting with Elizabeth church and the Augustenruhe viewpoint. We'll then wander up and down the streets of the historical center and, hopefully, reach the Rathaus, Marienkirche and, of course, the Schloss.
If you are free to join us, let's catch the 09:51 train from Frankfurt Hbf to Marburg and share a group ticket. Return will be either by the 18:30 or 19:30 train.
