Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities by attending a 15 minute premiere of a digital work i-waengā in Aotea Square followed by dinner at the Tanuki Japanese restaurant at Protected content St.
Renowned for their work in the disability and cultural space, Touch Compass has commissioned seven incredible artists from Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia to create i-waengā (in-between). This new digital work will premiere on the Protected content to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities, December 3, Protected content .
Exploring the individual artists’ response to indigenous time, disabled time, and everything inbetween, this 14-minute digital work will screen continuously across the day and will be available online for one week across Auckland Live and Touch Compass’ websites.
Artists Tusiata Avia, Grace Taylor, Amy Blinkhorne, thecornycousin, Forest V Kapo, AJ FATA, AM Kanngieser, and Touch Compass have come together to offer sound installations, digital poetry, and stop motion animations with some artists trying to beat the clock, break or bend time, and create moments of stillness. This work celebrates the connections between different identities and encourages new understanding of the body as we recognise International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
