Charming dramedy that actually cuts deeper than that:)
Protected content is with my great pleasure that I invite you all to our Film Club’s another September event!
Protected content time the film humorously explores questions of race, religion, power. It tells the extraordinary true story of the amazing and unlikely friendship between Queen Victoria and a young clerk who becomes her teacher and her spiritual advisor. Inevitably, the unprecedented and unlikely relationship causes a battle within the royal household, pitting the Queen against court and family.
Protected content particularly like the following two comments about the film:
“There's both pointed mischief and genuine emotion in abundance as this fascinating true story emerges from the shadows of history”,
“Ultimately, Victoria and Abdul may not have the Oscar-friendly weight of that film - but if you're after an engaging, entertaining historical drama that teaches you something you never knew before, then this one will certainly fit the bill.”
The commercials start at 17.15 so the actual film somewhere between 17.35 and 17.40.
Protected content usual, after the screening we will have a brilliant opportunity to chat, catch up on each other’s news, discuss the film, have a drink… The venue is conveniently located close to a lot of pubs and cafes so I’m sure we’ll be able to pick a nice one:)
