Hi folks!

Another month another film event😊 One may think that it’s gonna be hard now for any film to beat the phenomenal Queen biopic, shown last time… Well, we’ll see, some productions simply defy drawing comparisons, but can equally fascinate…
Film ‘Peterloo’, that I’d like to invite you all for, seems to be one of those great historic dramas that apart from its artistic qualities, carries huge and powerful educational aspects. And the educational feature of the movie seems to be particularly important in this case for it concerns the local history of Manchester. It deals with the dramatic events surrounding the Peterloo Massacre – one of the most defining moments in the history of England.
I’m not gonna say anything more lest I spoil it… For those who would like to learn a bit more ahead of the watching, here you are:

Here are a few quotes from some other write-ups:
“…the authenticity is immersive…”
“…it sets the past in stone while also lashing out at a present-day political order.”
“…an epic period piece from Mike Leigh…”
“…There are contemporary resonances for those who want them, but Peterloo succeeds on being an impactful recreation of a time and its injustices…”
“…In bringing to life a tragedy shamefully overlooked by the history books, Mike Leigh has made his most essential film since Vera Drake…”

The film is long Protected content so please, brace yourselves, lol 😉
As usual after the showing, for those who wish, we can go to a local pub/café for a chat/drink etc.😊

All the best,
