Psychology East & West #4 (EQ & Society)
Last time we gathered, we opened the topic of 'emotional intelligence'.
Emotional intelligence is a term from the psychologist Daniel Goleman, and is a very common view about our social and interpersonal interactions. EQ has been studied, measured and theories about it inform leadership and management as well as organizational behavior.
There is a large cultural difference in the expression of emotions, though as individuals we all have the same emotional processes.
How do we learn to read others emotions? Why is EQ important for social interaction? What happens if we fail to read emotions adequately? OH... so many other questions could be asked!
This ability to understand others emotions is essential for daily living and critical for intimate relationships.
SO…come ready to again think and feel your way through the topic of emotions and EQ as we chat and educate ourselves to be more ‘in-tune’ with our own emotions and with others.
