Namanga Hill Weekend Hikes
Namanga Hills also know as(The Ol Doinyo Orok mountain (in maasai language) is situated in southern Kenya next to the Tanzanian border in the Namanga Division.
A large part of it consists of elevated cloud forest (above Protected content . Being one of the few remaining patches in Kenya, it contains a large variety of plants, herbs and also several animal species not found in the surrounding semi-arid lowlands. In the mountain valleys there are natural water catchments created by the high altitude rains and the high humid climate.
The hiking trail will take you along Namanga river,and parallel to water pipes that supply water in Namanga and part of Tanzania. This trail end at a spectacular cave where the maasai conducts their rituals. Everyone is encouraged to get to this point regardless of the pace. The trail after this get bushy and steep. Only recommended for very for hikers.
The round trip hike can take from Protected content with stops at strategic points to take in the views, sounds and scent of the forest. The view of Namanga town and surrounding as you hike up is spectacular, on a clear day, you will be able to see Mt. Kilimanjaro,longido and Mt. Meru.
Sunday: sunrise morning hike take us to Maasai plains with spectacular views with possibility of sighting mt. Kilimanjaro.
