Zutphen small city with 50.000 inhabitants, which lies some 30 km north-east of Arnhem, on the Eastern bank of the river Ijsell .The name Zutphen appears to mean 'zuid-veen', or in English, south-fen. In the eleventh century Zutphen was a royal residence for a number of years. The settlement received town rights in XIIc making it one of the oldest towns in the country. This allowed it to self govern and have a judicial court. It also became part of the hanseatic Ligue a group of towns with great wealth; this league was the economic centre in that part of Europe.
Bronkhorst is a village but technically, it is a city with only Protected content , it is one of the smallest cities in the Netherlands
In a document dated 13 March Protected content , Gijsbert VII granted city rights to the inhabitants of the village Bronkhorst, This meant, among other things, that they were given limited self-government and were allowed to administer the law to some extent.
