The Peranakan kitchen is a unique fusion of cultures. The Malay/ Indonesian wives of Chinese immigrants to Malaysia, Indonesia & Singapore concocted a mix of foods to please their new husbands and to keep true to their own heritage. This is one of the most famous fusions in the world and the dishes on offer cannot be found anywhere else in this country. The main dish of chicken with black nuts is hard even to find in Asia because of the complicated preparation of the nuts and so, if you crave new food experiences this is a dinner not to be missed.
(There is a non-pork option but we need to let the kitchen know 3 days before the event). There is also a vegetarian option but seafood is in most of the dishes in the form of shrimp paste & fish sauce).
