ON HOLD. Mahler's 3rd Symphony
Hear the biggest symphony in the world with this special offer for InterNations Music Group members…
Voted one of the ten greatest symphonies of all time (BBC Music Magazine), this is a fantastic opportunity to hear the great third Symphony by Gustav Mahler - the longest symphony in the standard repertoire. Its six movements illustrates Mahler's belief that "A symphony must be like the world - it must contain everything.”
This concert celebrates ten years of the Siam Sinfonietta, the renowned youth orchestra conducted by Somtow Sucharitkul and with mezzo soprano Grace Echauri.
Somtow completed the cycle of nine Mahler Symphonies in Protected content . French conductor Frederic Chaslin said, "I didn't think a non-Jewish conductor could understand Mahler so perfectly." Somtow is now revisiting the entire cycle, this time with young people as performers.
Afterwards we will meet Somtow and then maybe a drink and a chat nearby.
