Let's See Definition of Man
Fresh from a very successful run at Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Nikki Muller and Jason Losario are bringing their original play “Definition of Man” to Germany for one performance.
In the abstracted setting of a burnt-out, post-apocalyptic ruin, the cast of two serves as a stand-in for all of humanity while grappling with their own personal struggles to maintain a sense of self in a world that has ceased to exist. In a tightly-paced narrative progression, they move and shift between verbal and physical intimacy, exploring how these intersect and overlap from start to finish.
This powerful show uses physical theatre to explore universal themes of identity, gender, race, vulnerability and the impossibility of communication. By speaking from their own situated experiences as the daughter of an East German refugee and son to Puerto Rican parents respectively, Muller and Rosario provide an intimate portrayal of the inner struggle to overcome one’s own assumptions and the sacrifices required to connect and find understanding with our fellow man.
