Hi guys,

This group's very own Lito Dakou asked me to post this activity on her behalf. Here's how she describes the event:

Experience an extraordinary theatre play!
With afterwards audience discussion with the director and actress

You don‘t very often have the opportunity to experience a live performance of a piece of one of the most important Greek poets, directed by one of the most important Greek directors.

“HELENA” of Yannis Ritsos, directed by Dimos Avdeliodis, performed by Veronika Argentzi.
• Ritsos is considered one of the great Greek poets of the twentieth century. The French poet Louis Aragon once said that Ritsos was "the greatest poet of our age."
• Dimos Avdeliodis, who recently has been awarded one of the most important Greek prizes for directors, suggests with his performances a renewed and modern way of theatrical expression, which relies on the lucidity and clarity of meaning, without any elements of experimentation. Watching the performance becomes a personal experience for all spectators, regardless of their age or education level.

"Helena" by Yannis Ritsos is not exactly the mythical Helen of Troy. It is her aged idol, talking about a past of frustrated happiness, which has been substituted by illusory imaginations and ghosts. She talks to us about ourselves and about herself. It depicts love, passions, loneliness, old age, bridging the archaic myth with modern reality.
„Helen“, under the direction of Dimos Avdeliodis, as a symbol of self-awareness, regains its divine identity and once again becomes the timeless idol of Beauty and Human Happiness.

A performance that everybody should see!
Language: Greek with German subtitles

Sounds interesting? Then feel welcome to come and see for yourself :-)

Cheers,
Jan
