The Jubilee Stompers on the East Lawn at the Palm House
Come and join me for a wonderful evening of big band jazz. Bring along a picnic, your folding chair and picnic blankets while you listen to The Jubilee Stompers - a Rag time 5 piece band, playing joyous swing and jazz from the depression era!
The Jubilee Stompers initially came together due to their mutual love and fascination with early Jazz music. What started as an exploration of the compositions of the great Duke Ellington quickly expanded to include many of the classic ensembles of the early Protected content , such as Fletcher Henderson, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong and Sidney Bechet. The twin vocals of Parabhen Lad and Luciana Mercer add an extra dimension allowing the Stompers to bring to life some of the depression era's sweetest songs and plantation spirituals.
