The Liverpool waterfront gives us views of activity on the River Mersey, as well as the buildings along the river, and of the Wirral on the other side. We will start at the Pier Head and walk along the river to the Exhibition centre, before returning via Chinatown to ascend Duke Street to Liverpool Cathedral. Since the two cathedrals are connected via Hope Street we can take that route to the Metropolitan Cathedral before descending into the city centre to return on this circular route to where we started from.
Distance about 4 miles. Total time: about 1 hour 15 minutes. Ascent and descent: minor. Effort: easy.
There are many cafes that we can stop for refreshments along the way.
Closest station: James St. Many buses stop at Queens Square or Liverpool One. Parking at the Albert Dock or Q-Park, among others.
