dance performance: body realities-city codes (Accra/Ghana)
The din a 13 dance company is one of the world's leading mixed-abled dance ensembles. The new production "BodyRealities – CityCodes" deals with the complex structures of this city and its inhabitants.
The artistic team of the din a 13 dance company goes into the two-year dance-/Videokunstproduktion bodyRealities The question of the influence of places, landscapes and scenes of personal experiences for the individual body memory and how these places are reflected in the body movement.
The body is a living sign of its culture, as well as its local and architectural habitat. Whatever we do with our bodies, what attitudes we have to him, how we assess, perceive and what meaning we attribute to the body, all this is marked by the society and the culture in which we live.
Together with the media authors Miriam Jakobs and Gerhard Schick, the choreographer Gerda König tracked these contexts already in the year Protected content Sri Lanka.
Now the research led the artistic team to the African Metropolis Accra in Ghana. In the urban areas of the city you will find rural structures, organized in informal settlements with their own administration. These slum settlements are constantly moving along a river, a railway track, or along a street of high-rise buildings, where values and products of globalization seem to be unattainable behind leaked glass windows for most of the population. The attempt to understand the city and its people inevitably leads to the confrontation of past and modern slavery, the consequences of colonisation and globalization. Accra is a melting of past and present, diverse ethnic groups, languages and cultures.
