Photo Vernissage: Bettina Gruber Retrospective
The art center of the Michael Horbach Foundation is showing works by Bettina Gruber for the first time in the form of a comprehensive exhibition of works. At the end of the Protected content and the beginning of the Protected content Gruber studied fine arts in Berlin and London and has lived in Cologne ever since. Her work areas are video art, installations, objects and staged photography.
The exhibition title» From the ephyrical fund «refers to the wind deity Zephyr, who was revered in ancient times as a spring messenner and» rider of the seeds «.
The show features a cross-section of works spanning more than four decades. The close link between art and life, which was self-evident in the early Protected content , forms a common thread. The artist uses them surrounding things: Dogs, plants, light, boats, their models and finally themselves are protagonists of her wordless narratives.
Bettina Gruber presents her works in four atmospherically diverse rooms: Hall of vanities, Salon of Homage, Rumpelkammer of Enlightenment and Cabinet of the Intercome World. Visitors become hikers between Bettina Gruber's worlds.
