Hello dear members!

In this activity we will make a trekking through Sierra Morena to get to Munigua archaelogycal site.

The departure point will be the parking placed by the train station in the town of Villanueva del Río y Minas at 11 A.M.. We will leave by car from the train station. We will cross a forest road until we reach the beginning of the route on foot. From this point, a path of about three kilometers begins before encountering the site. We will visit the site and later we will return to the cars and head to the village to find a place to eat.

At Munigua, evidence of human occupation extends from the mid-4th century BCE to the 8th century CE. A highlight on this timeline was the founding of the Roman town of Munigua in the late 1st century BCE. The older pre-Roman settlement on this same site, as yet unidentified, may also have been called Munigua as the name is of Iberian origin. For more information click here.
