Islamic Art Festival at the Dallas Museum of Art
Join me at the Dallas Museum of Art's Islamic Art Festival, as they celebrate their Keir Collection of Islamic Art. There are MANY activities scheduled on Saturday, November 18, but below is my schedule. You are free to join me or plan your own day of activities. Here is a list of all activities:
3) Artist Demo: Patternmaking
3:00–4:30 p.m., Asian Galleries, Level 3 Landing
Artist Eric Broug will demonstrate the purpose and process behind the complex geometric patterning that adorns Islamic art and architecture. Discover how even the most ornate designs can be broken down into simple repeating patterns of shapes.
Eric Broug, originally from the Netherlands, received his Masters degree in the history of Islamic art and architecture from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London. He runs Broug Ateliers for Islamic Architecture, Arts and Crafts in Yorkshire, which creates contemporary Islamic art. He is the author of Islamic Geometric Patterns.
