June Book Club: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet
Come down to the International District to discuss and share impressions of the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet by Jamie Ford at the Panama Hotel Tea House, the real life "Hotel on the Corner" that the title references.
Jamie Ford's debut novel takes us back to WWII era Seattle where we meet Henry Lee and Keiko Okabe, two children whose life stories introduce us to the Seattle of then and tie it to the Seattle of now. A NY Times best seller, winner of the Protected content American Award for Literature and a Protected content State Book Award Finalist, the Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet is an engaging and heartwarming piece of story telling.
The Panama Hotel Tea House offers a wide variety of loose leaf teas as well as coffee and other drinks. Cookies and pastries are also available. **Please plan on purchasing something in consideration of our using the cafe for our activity. Costs are ~$5 for a tea or coffee.**
Note: for those interested, we might go out for a dim sum lunch informally after the activity concludes.
