In honor of Black History Month, let’s turn our attention to African-American authors. Their works span every genre, so there definitely is something for everyone.
Do you have a favorite African-American author? Or, would you like to explore your options for getting started reading something by an African-American author? Let’s explore together and discover authors new to each of us together!
You might already have read memoirs by Barack and Michelle Obama. Or perhaps you’re familiar with Toni Morrison and Maya Angelou. Maybe you’re a new fan of poetry thanks to Amanda Gorman. But there are many others out there, too!
A quick Google search of “African-American Authors” will give you a lot of names to start with. You might even be surprised at what you discover! For example, did you know that Stacey Abrams, well-known American politician from Georgia, is also an award-winning author of romantic suspense under the pen name “Selena Montgomery”?
