Lets Go to a Reggae World Jazz Concert
Abyssinia Roots Collective brings together a bunch of old friends for a merry musical jazzy jam session, featuring some of the hottest Ethiopian musicians !
Some you know well (but we never grow tired of) such as Henock Temesgen (Bass) and Abegazu Shiota (keyboard), and some you dont know you know :)
Have you heard of Tommy T.? He’s the Ethiopian bassist for Gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello, storming venues around the world with their high-octane live performances. He'll be with us rocking the stage.
The reggae touch is brought by Ethiopian-born vocalist and guitar player Zakki Jawad, leader of Zedicus, another DC-based band and also member of Ethio-fusion group Admas alongside the above mentioned fellows. The band has been performing in world music and reggae circles for over 20 years.
And this is not to mention the guest musicians also getting on board.
So, basically, expect the unexpected as these guys are some wild (beautiful) creatures!
The concert starts at 8pm but I suggest meeting at Protected content
The concert is free. Drinks and food are available from the cafe.
