Mexico provides a high number of academic opportunities for foreigners today. Visiting lectureships, research opportunities, academic exchange programs all bring many foreign professors to both private and public universities in Mexico. Additionally, foreign professionals can find their way to part-time lectureships in many educational institutes.

But how can these foreign professors and professionals exploit the full potential of having an academic affiliation? How can they build up their professional and academic network? How can they diversify their activities, getting involved also entrepreneurship or consultancy?

Participants will look for answers for these questions, while also discussing the benefits and opportunities as well as the challenges that foreigners regularly face in the academic environment in Mexico. They will also share best practices to diversify to consultancy and entrepreneurship, also touching upon innovative ideas in the education „industry” as well as in the supporting services provided to both academic institutions and foreign professors. During the meeting we will also highlight the potential ways of cooperation between academia and the business world, including startups.

The importance of this topic is also confirmed by the experience that today Mexican universities and research institutes constitute a gateway to the academic world both in Latin America and in the United States.
